ABB 1SFA896105R1100 PSR9-600-11 Soft starter is a compact 9 A three-phase soft starter from ABB’s PSR series, designed for smooth starting and stopping of small AC induction motors. It operates on a 208–600 V AC main circuit voltage and uses a 24 V AC/DC control supply. ABB documentation lists it for approximately 4 kW motor power at 400 V, making it suitable for small pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, HVAC equipment, and general industrial machinery. The PSR9-600-11 uses two-phase controlled voltage-ramp technology for soft start and soft stop. This helps reduce mechanical shock, starting torque, belt and coupling stress, and electrical disturbances compared with direct-on-line starting. It also features a built-in bypass, which reduces heat generation and power losses once the motor reaches normal operating speed. The start and stop settings are adjusted using three front-mounted potentiometers. A RUN signal is available through a normally-open relay output, and optional Fieldbus communication can be added using an external adapter and Fieldbus plug. ABB states that the PSR range can manage up to 100 starts per hour.
