ABB 1SYN244322R3800 (SDA-20) is a fully automatic Star-Delta motor starter intended for controlled starting of 20 HP / 15 kW three-phase induction motors. This variant uses a 220–230 V AC control coil and is suitable for motor systems operating around 415 V AC, 50 Hz. During startup, the motor windings are initially connected in star, reducing the starting current compared with Direct-On-Line starting. After the preset transition period, the starter automatically changes the connection to delta for normal motor operation. Typical applications include pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, conveyors, HVAC systems, machine tools and industrial process machinery where lower starting current is preferred.
