The ABB AF40-40-00-11 Contactor, Part No. 1SBL347201R1100, is a heavy-duty 4-pole block contactor designed mainly for switching non-inductive or slightly inductive loads such as resistance furnaces, heaters, HVAC loads, lighting circuits, industrial machinery, OEM panels, automation systems, and general-purpose power switching. It uses ABB’s AF electronic coil technology, which accepts a broad 24–60 V AC at 50/60 Hz and 20–60 V DC control-voltage range. ABB states that AF contactors can manage large control-voltage variations and include built-in surge protection. For AC-3 motor duty, ABB specifies 40 A at 380/400/415/440 V, corresponding to 18.5 kW at 380/400 V and 22 kW at 415/440 V. This makes it suitable not only for resistive and general-load switching but also for selected motor-control applications within the published AC-3 ratings.
