Surge protective devices (SPD) Type 2 protect low-voltage electrical systems against transient surge voltages. This device is tested as an SPD Type 2 according to IEC 61643-11 and is compatible with the ABB System pro M compact series.

The device features a plug-in protection module and Quick Safe (QS) technology with thermal monitoring. The “s” variant incorporates a reserve varistor that provides basic residual protection if the main varistor reaches the end of its service life, helping maintain protection until the surge arrester is replaced. It is intended for installation in compatible electrical distribution systems to help protect connected equipment from switching surges and indirect lightning effects.
